"Sunsets Were Never Enough" is a reflection of beauty that blinds and moments that mislead. What began as a serene tribute to the perfection of a summer sky—a backdrop of soft blue with textured streaks of pink, orange, and red meant to echo the elegance of a sunset—became something far more honest.
I created this piece during a summer filled with warmth, love, and long poolside evenings spent staring at cotton-candy skies. It felt perfect—until it wasn’t. As the relationship behind those skies unraveled, so did the illusion.
The painting transformed, layered with black and teal splatters in my signature style—chaotic, raw, and unplanned. The elegant lines beneath still try to shine through, but now carry more weight: a reminder that while we’re mesmerized by the beauty of pink skies, we often miss the truth unfolding just beneath them.
Inspired by the song Pink Skies by Zach Bryan, this piece is about how perfection fades, and the real story is told in the layers we try to hide. Like a summer that felt timeless but couldn’t last, it holds both the memory of love and the reality of what followed.
